Definition of bitumen penetration grade 60/70
Bitumen penetration grade 60/70 is semi-hard penetration grade bitumen used as a paving grade bitumen which is suitable for road construction and repair. This grade of bitumen is mainly used in the manufacturing of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses and for road construction and also for making some bitumen emulsion, cutback bitumen and modified bitumen grades as well. Bitumen 60/70 is one of the most used bitumen grades and it’s a basic material for all other bituminous products.
Application of bitumen penetration grade 60/70
Bitumen 60/70 is suitable for road construction and for the asphalt pavements with superior properties. Due to its medium air blowing and penetration, it is used in mild areas. Also this grade of bitumen is mainly used in the spraying and chip applications.
Bitumen 60/70 is suitable to be used in hot climates and it shows more durability exposing to heavy traffic loads. Bitumen 60/70 is a popular grade in India and South East African countries, since its quality is acceptable and price is not too high.
By extending the performance of final asphalt and treating the cracks in the time of maintenance, bitumen 60/70 is known as a cost-effective solution that reduces the expenses, without affecting the quality.
